With the official start of summer about a week away, I am bringing you along into my quest for summer staples. As my online search continues, I find myself gravitating towards standard summer pieces (i.e. dresses, skirts, shorts) which all share a common theme: white cotton poplin.
Please find below all the tabs that I currently have open and all the clothes that currently fill my online shopping carts:
COS
Let’s begin with one of my favorite go to’s: COS. First, this oversized off-the-shoulder blouse is veeerrryy cool. I am planning on snagging this, as well as these matching drawstring shorts.
Both the blouse and shorts are made with 100% cotton, and are perfect for summer. I also love these wide leg pants, which would also pair so nicely with the off-the-shoulder blouse.
Deiji Studios
Speaking of pants, Deiji Studios has these beautiful trousers are the definition of perfect.
I also am really tempted to purchase this pintuck skirt, despite having already purchased a few cotton skirts for the summer (don’t worry, i’ll get there). While I could go on and on about just how good Deiji Studios is, I’ll limit myself to this last item: “the pleat set”.
We are planning a trip abroad this summer and I see myself living in this set all trip long.
Brooke Callahan
I love pants. My pants to tops ratio is entirely unbalanced. It is no surprise then, that I am in love with these Brook Callahan “tie pants” that will inevitably be coming home with me this summer.
Made with 100% cotton poplin, these pants shout comfort and will be a summer (as well as year round) staple.
With Bermuda shorts on the rise, these tie shorts are the sister of the tie pants and can literally be worn all summer long.
Skirts
While this article began as being organized by brand, there are many skirts that I want to highlight—all of which come from a variety of different places. Starting with what I have already purchased, this Chandelier Poplin Skirt features a drop waist and is lined so you I never have to worry about it being see through. I also purchased this Poplin Skirt which is extremely comfortable and is very easy to style.
Next, the Pola Cotton Skirt from Muarmus is beautiful and will live in your closet forever. Made with 100% cotton this skirt is the definition of summer staple (& is also priced very well).
I purchased this low waist cotton skirt back in March and after a few wears, I will say that the material and shape have held up—for Zara the quality is very very good.
A few other favorites include Staud’s Eden Skirt, Solid and Stripe’s Zaria Skirt, the Giulia Skirt by Danielle Guizio and of course, Doen’s Sebastian Skirt.
Dresses
We end with dresses. Besides cotton poplin you may also pick up on another theme that I am loving: drop waist. While pricey, I am very much in love with this organic cotton drop waist dress by Matteau. This timeless piece will never go out of style, possibly justifying the price…
I have been eyeing this asymmetrical shirred tank dress from Source Unknown for a few months now and I think it may be time to pull the trigger. Though not made with 100% cotton, the drop waist on this dress is perfect.
Lastly, but certainly not least, this drawstring dress from St. Agni is a recent find, but quite possibly my favorite.

Let me know if you snag anything!! Happy shopping!
